The 620 m2 west-facing villa is surrounded by the ocean, rock faces and fynbos and features panoramic sea and mountain views. The architect’s brief was to capture to spirit of the place and its spectacular position with a concept evolving around a floating verandah roof to capture the stunning views. The floor-to-ceiling glass doors retract into the walls to bring the exterior inside, with the gentle crashing of waves on the rocks below as an omnipresent reminder of its unique location. The villa seamlessly gives way to the elements and was designed around light and nature with its open, illuminated interior.
Paragon Interiors’ brief was to bring the natural attributes of the exterior indoors and it was decided to use a minimalist design philosophy: functional, comfortable and uncluttered, yet earthy and natural, with a heavy focus on glass, steel and natural wood. The colour palette portrays warm earth shades, such as burnt, sand and the shaggy rugs soften the overall ambience.
The result is a minimalist, comfortable, and most importantly user-friendly home.
